The HCC Open Rapid is a 10 round Swiss tournament. Suitable for adults and juniors. All players play together at same time limit.
This tournament is ACF rapid rated, and players are playing for the title of HCC Rapid Champion 2016.
The tournament commences on the 22nd of February with rounds 1 and 2 and concludes on the 4th of April with rounds 9 and 10. Players will play 2 rounds per evening, and will every round unless given or requested a bye. Rounds will be played according to the following schedule:
- 15th February - Round 1 and 2
- 29th February - Round 3 and 4
- 7th March - Round 5 and 6
- 21st March - Round 7 and 8
- 4th April - Round 9 and 10
NOTE: the 14th and 28th of March are public holidays and the club will be closed.
NOTE: the HICC reserves the right to alter the dates without notice if needed.
Mondays 6:30pm. All players expected to be present strictly on time or else contact us (contact form below) if they will be late.
The first game of the evening will commence between 6:30 and 6:45, and the second game will commence between 7:00 and 7:15.
FINISH TIME FOR PARENTS:
Young juniors who tend to play quickly will often finish their games by 7:30. Games involving stronger juniors who play slowly and carefully may go later.
All games are expected to conclude by 8pm.
15 minutes +2 seconds/move from move 40. This means you only get the inciment once you've passed the 40th move, NOT from the beginning of the game.
Players are not required to annotate with this time control.
Pairings will be made on the night from those present or expected to arrive. If players who have been paired fail to arrive on time, then their clock may be started, or their game may be re-paired or forfeited.
Because of the 2 game per week schedule entries open on the 15th of February, and close on the 29th of February. Players who enter on the 29th will be given half-point byes for the rounds they have missed.
Each player is allowed up to two half point byes, for any rounds except the final 2 rounds. Any half point byes assigned for late entry are included in this. Half point byes must be requested in advance. All other absences will score zero.
If you cannot attend on a given night, or are going to be late, you or your parent must, must, must notify us in advance. This can be done by using the absence notification form below. When you use this form a message is sent directly to the Director of Play who will register your absence and give you a half point bye if eligible.
