GM Max Illingworth on: Defending the King

  • Location to be Confirmed (map)

Grandmaster Max Illingworth, Australian Champion 2014/15 will present the second of a 2 part lecture series on attacking and defending the king.

This week it's: Defending the King.

Max writes:

Last week we learned about how to attack the king, but that raises the question: how do we defend against such attacks? In this lecture, you'll learn all about how to anticipate the opponent's attacking ideas, as well as some principles for when to time going for the counter-attack. A lot of players struggle with defending accurately, so if you can make this a strength, you will become quite difficult to beat!

The lecture will commence at 7pm and run for 90 minutes. PGN files of all the games and annotations will be made available after the lecture.

Admission will be $5 (includes complementary tea and coffee).

Everyone is welcome, this event is open to non-members at no additional charge.
