The Tasmanian Chess Open is HOSTED BY the HOBART INTERNATIONAL CHESS CLUB FOR THE TCA

This is a class 1 ACF GRAND PRIX EVENT

 

VENUE:

Launceston College 107-119 Paterson Street, Launceston, TAS 7250

 

Format:

7 round Swiss. 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move per player from move 1.

 

Schedule:

Friday the 11th of March:

  • Opening Ceremony - 7:00pm
  • Round 1 Start - 7:30pm

Saturday the 12th of March:

  • Round 2 Start - 9:00am
  • Round 3 Start - 2:00pm
  • Tasmanian Lighting Championships - 7:00pm

Sunday the 13th of March:

  • Round 4 Start - 9:00am
  • Round 5 Start - 2:00pm
  • TCA AGM - 7:00pm

Monday the 14th of March:

  • Round 6 Start - 9:00am
  • Round 7 Start - 2:00pm
  • Closing Ceremony - 6:00pm (or as soon as possible after the last game has concluded)

 

ENTRY:

Registration for this event has now closed.

 

ENTRY FEES:

  • $55 waged
  • $50 concession
  • $30 U18
  • $25 U12

Entry fees may be paid on the day.  $5 early bird discount if received by February 26th.

TCA Levy:

Tasmanian players add $20 if not a current member of a club affiliated to the TCA

  • 1st c. 40%,
  • 2nd c. 20%,
  • 3rd c. 10%,
  • U1750 c. 10%,
  • U1500 c. 10%,
  • U18 $70,
  • U12 $50.

Prizes other than 1st and 2nd subject to at least three eligible entries. Prize pool is all money received except running costs and levies.

ARBITERS:

Ian Little (Hobart) + 2 others to be appointed.  Anyone wishing to act as an arbiter for this event should make themselves known to the D.O.P

 

HALF-POINT BYES:

Any player may take up to 2 half point byes in rounds 1 to 5. No half point byes will be given in rounds 6 or 7. All half point byes must be requested before the start of the event.  

 

NOTES:

FIDE Laws 2014 apply – ringing mobiles will incur automatic loss. Entrants agree to abide by all decisions of the organisers and arbiters. The organisers reserve the right to make any changes required.
