THE Tasmanian Chess Championships is HOSTED BY THE Launceston chess club for the TCA


THIS IS A CLASS 1 ACF GRAND PRIX EVENT


VENUE:

Launceston College, Paterson St. Launceston

 

FORMAT:

7 round Swiss. 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move per player from move 1.

 

SCHEDULE:

Saturday the 11th of March:

  • Opening Ceremony - 1.30pm
  • Round 1 Start - 2pm
  • Round 2 Start - 6pm

Sunday the 12th of March:

  • Round 3 Start - 10.00am
  • Round 4 Start - 2.00pm
  • Round 5 Start - 6:00pm

Monday the 13th of March:

  • Round 6 Start - 10:00am
  • Round 7 Start - 2.00pm
  • Closing Ceremony - 6:15pm
  • TCA Annual General Meeting 

 

ENTRY:

ENTRY FEES:

  • Adult (18 and over) $55
  • Adult concession $50
  • Junior (under 18) $15

Entry fees may be paid on the day. $5 early bird discount if received by February 18th. Discount applies to adult entrants ONLY

Pre-payments can be paid by credit card using the TCA Web Store.

 

TCA LEVY:

Tasmanian players add $20 if not a current member of a club affiliated to the TCA

  • 1st c. 40%
  • 2nd c. 20%
  • 3rd c. 10%
  • U1650 c. 10%
  • U1500 c. 10%
  • Junior $50

Prizes other than 1st and 2nd subject to at least 3 eligible entries. Prize pool is 90% +$50 of money received except running costs and levies.

 

TITLES:

The TCA will confer the title of Tasmanian Chess Champion to all 1st place finishers of this event. The TCA will confer the title of Tasmanian Senior Chess Champion to the top finisher over 60 years of age, subject to at least 1 entry. The TCA will confer the title of Tasmanian Women's Chess Champion to the top finishing female player, subject to at least 2 entries.

HALF-POINT BYES:

No half point byes are allowed during this event.

 

NOTES:

FIDE Laws 2014 apply – ringing mobiles will incur automatic loss. Entrants agree to abide by all decisions of the organisers and arbiters. The organisers reserve the right to make any changes required.
