The Tasmanian Open is Hosted by Hobart Chess Club for the TCA

This is a Class 1 ACF Grand Prix Event

VENUE:

Mt Carmel College, 361 Sandy Bay Road, Sandy Bay.

 

Format:

6 round Swiss. 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move per player from move 1.

 

Schedule:

Saturday the 10th June:

  • Opening Ceremony - 1.30pm
  • Round 1 Start - 2pm
  • Round 2 Start - 6pm

Sunday the 11th of June:

  • Round 3 Start - 10.00am
  • Round 4 Start - 2.00pm
  • Tasmanian Lightning Championships - 6:00pm

Monday the 12th of June:

  • Round 6 Start - 10:00am
  • Round 7 Start - 2.00pm
  • Closing Ceremony - 6:15pm, or as soon as practical after the last game has concluded
  • TCA Executive Meeting to follow the closing ceremony.

 

ENTRY:

Entry for this event are now CLOSED.

Entries closed at 5pm on Wednesday the 7th of June.

 

ENTRY FEES:

  • Adult (18 and over) $55
  • Adult concession $50
  • Junior (under 18) $30

Entry fees may be paid on the day. $5 early bird discount if received by May 20th.

Pre-payments can be paid by credit card using the TCA Web Store.

 

TCA LEVY:

Tasmanian players add $20 if not a current member of a club affiliated to the TCA.

  • 1st c. 40%
  • 2nd c. 20%
  • 3rd c. 10%
  • U1650 c. 10%
  • U1500 c. 10%
  • Junior $50

Prizes other than 1st and 2nd subject to at least 3 eligible entries. Prize pool is 90% +$50 of money received except running costs and levies.

ARBITERS:

Ian Little + 2 to be appointed.  Anyone wishing to act as an arbiter for this event should make themselves known to the D.O.P

 

HALF-POINT BYES:

A maximum of 2 half point byes may be taken in rounds 1-4 only, and only if requested prior to the start of the tournament.

 

NOTES:

FIDE Laws 2014 apply – ringing mobiles will incur automatic loss. Entrants agree to abide by all decisions of the organisers and arbiters. The organisers reserve the right to make any changes required.
