When and Where
The DCC meets every Mondays from 6.30 at the Eastern Shore Community House, 106 David St. East Devonport. The club is open all year round with the exception of most public holidays, and 3 to 4 weeks over Christmas/New Year. Everyone is welcome.
Our motto is:
Gegen diesen Idioten muss ich verlieren? (Nimzovitch), which translates to, why must I lose to this idiot?
Throughout the year the DCC runs several tournaments and host the occasional seminar. All DCC members are eligible to play in these tournaments free of charge. These tournaments are submitted the the ACF for ratings. Players wanting a casual game are welcome anytime. Between official tournaments the DCC runs casual chess nights and ad-hoc one-night tournaments that may or may not be rated by the ACF.
Keep up to date on Chess Chat, Australia's Premier Chess Forum. Chess Chat is a FREE forum that anyone can sign up for. It has all the latest information on the Devonport Chess Club, as well as interstate tournaments, and anything chess related from around Australia and the World.
The DCC was founded on Monday the 25th of August 2014. The club was formed after successfully hosting the inaugural Tasmanian Rapid Championships and the Devonport lighting championship (with the aid of the Burnie Chess Club) on the 26th and 27th of July 2014. Starting well with several keen regular members, the club continues to grow and offers a range of exciting competition formats throughout the year.
