2019 Tasmanian Open

FORMAT:

6 round Swiss. 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move per player from move 1.

SCHEDULE:

Saturday the 8th of June:

  • Opening Ceremony - 1.30pm

  • Round 1 - 2pm

  • Round 2 - 6pm

Sunday the 9th of June:

  • Round 3 - 10am

  • Round 4 - 2pm

  • Round 5 - 6pm

Monday the 10th of June:

  • Round 6 - 10am

  • Closing Ceremony - 2pm

ENTRIES:

All competitors MUST enter online using the digital registration form.

Entries close at 5pm on Wednesday the 5th of June.

A $10 early bird discount will be applied to all entries if registration is received on or before Saturday the 25th of May.

FEES & LEVIES:

Entry fees may be paid on the day in cash (cash only for on-the-day payments), or online prior to the event by credit card or PayPal, or by direct transfer to the TCA.

  • Adult $60

  • Junior (under 18) $30

In accordance with section 3 of the TCA Constitution, Tasmanian players not already a member of the TCA must pay an Individual TCA Membership levy in addition to their entry fee. This fee entitles the individual to all items listed under rule 3.2 of the constitution until the commencement of the next TCA financial year (rule 6.5)

  • 1st 40%

  • 2nd 20%

  • 3rd 10%

  • U1650 10%

  • U1500 10%

  • Junior (to be determined)

Prizes other than 1st and 2nd subject to at least 3 eligible entries. Prize pool is 90% + the confirmed junior prize of entry fees minus running costs and levies.

TITLES:

Winners of the Tasmanian Open shall be recognised as “Tasmanian Open Winners”. The Tasmanian Open does not confer any title covered under the TCA’s State Title Eligibility Policy.

2 additional arbiters to be selected from the entrants.

HALF-POINT BYES:

Competitors may take up to 2 half-point byes during rounds 1-4 of this event. Half point byes are not available in rounds 5 or 6. Half-point bye requests for rounds 1 and 2 must be notified to the Director of Play before the start of round 1. Half-point bye requests for round 3 must be notified before the start of round 2. Half point bye requests for round 4 must be notified before the start of round 3. Late requests may be declined and result in either a 0 point bye, or a time forfeit.

NOTES:

FIDE Laws 2018 apply – ringing mobiles will incur automatic loss. Entrants agree to abide by all decisions of the organisers and arbiters. The organisers reserve the right to make any changes required.

This TCA tournament has been organised and operated to comply with the TCA Constitution and the Tournament Guidelines of the TCA.
