Thank you Guildford Young College

July 22, 2025

Hobart Chess Club has called Guildford Young College (West Hobart campus) home since September 2020.  During that time the College have renovated the library block and in doing so have created a fantastic space to play the great game of chess in - Davis Centre.

The TCA is also grateful to Guildford Young (GYC) for allowing the venue to hold weekend events in the Davis Centre.  The recent Tas Open over the Kings Birthday long weekend being the most recent example.

Coming up GYC are hosting the National Arbiter seminar for people who want to get licensed to be arbiters in FIDE rated tournaments.  This will be held Saturday 2nd August, 2025 9 am to 5 pm  and Sunday 3rd August, 2025 9 am to 5 pm. Participants must be at least 16 as of August 2nd to attend.  If you are interested in attending contact Jonty Oud - jontyoud1@gmail.com

And later on, in August (23rd  24th) the College will be hosting the 2025 Tasmanian Rapid Champs.

Once again thank you very much Guildford Young College.
